The Bird Dog Blueprint™
Volume 1: Building the Learner
The First Foundations | 8–12 Weeks
Your puppy is already learning. The question is, what are you teaching?
The foundation of a successful bird dog isn't built through formal training alone. It's shaped through everyday interactions, thoughtful experiences, clear communication, and an understanding of how dogs learn.
In Building the Learner, Michael G. Duffin of Edgewood North Kennels guides new puppy owners through those critical first weeks at home, connecting principles of animal learning and behavior with practical, everyday puppy development.
This volume explores:
Understanding how puppies learn and develop
Establishing routines, structure, and expectations
Building confidence, engagement, and cooperation
Introducing foundational behaviors through clear communication and positive reinforcement
Recognizing how ordinary moments become lasting habits
Preparing your puppy for the training and experiences that lie ahead
Written for everyday bird dog owners, whether you're raising your first versatile hunting dog or your fifth, this book emphasizes understanding the learner before advancing the training.
Because today's ordinary moments become tomorrow's habits.
